How to use NTFS partition or U disk and removable hard disk in a Linux system - using the tool NTFS-3G.

NOTE: We are using our system is NTFS on Windows is moving or when hard drives are NTFS, but in the Linux system under the NTFS partition can not be used directly, that we want to use, then how do? Now I will teach you a simple way to get the NTFS partition can be used inside a Linux system, as follows.

Mount NTFS partitions under Installation and Configuration ------ Linux NTFS-3G's

1. What is NTFS-3G

NTFS-3G is an open source software that supports read and write NTFS format under Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, NetBSD, Haiku operating system partition. It can quickly and safe operation of Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista file system, in addition to the owner and full access to all disk operations it supports POSIX-compliant.

Objective NTFS-3G is for users who need a reliable NTFS interoperable hardware platforms and operating systems provide trusted, feature-rich, high-performance solutions.

2. I have here is a system used RedHat6.4.

3. Now unzip the downloaded package. I put the package on the table. Then we unpack.

[Root @ localhost Desktop] # ls -l

-rwxrw-rw-. 1 root root 1176304. 6 Yue 17 2013 ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13.tgz

[Root @ localhost Desktop] # tar zxf ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13.tgz

4, now use the "cd" into the directory where ntfs

[Root @ localhost Desktop] # cd ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13

[Root @ localhost ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13] # ls

aclocal.m4 config.h.in CREDITS libntfs-3g NEWS

AUTHORS config.sub depcomp ltmain.sh ntfsprogs

autogen.sh configure include m4 README

ChangeLog configure.ac INSTALL Makefile.am src

compile COPYING install-sh Makefile.in TODO.ntfsprogs

config.guess COPYING.LIB libfuse-lite missing

5. Configure compilation environment

Note: The basic conditions when we install the source package is needed to install Linux system "development tools", "development bank"

[Root @ localhost ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13] # ./configure

6. Compile

[Root @ localhost ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13] # make

7. compile and install

[Root @ localhost ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2013.1.13] # make install

Now NTFS-3G installed. We can test.

Use NTFS-3G

When properly installed, we need to load the ntfs-3g NTFS partition

8. Getting NTFS partition device name, execute the following command

[Root @ localhost ~] # fdisk -l | grep NTFS

/ Dev / sdd2 1275 26772 204800000 7 HPFS / NTFS

/ Dev / sdd3 26772 60802 273343488 7 HPFS / NTFS

9. create mount point

[Root @ localhost ~] # mkdir -p / mnt / ntfs-p1

drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096. 6 Yue 2 03:46 / mnt / ntfs-p1

10. Check the mount case

[Root @ localhost ~] # df -h

11. The method of the temporary loading NTFS Partition

ntfs-3g < NTFS Partition> < Mount Point>

among them:

< NTFS Partition> ------ NTFS partition device name, such as / dev / sdb6

< Mount Point> ------ mount point, such as 3.2 / mnt / ntfs-p1

For example: We put / dev / sdb6 this partition mounted to / mnt / ntfs-p1 below

[Root @ localhost ~] # ntfs-3g / dev / sdd2 / mnt / ntfs-p1

12. Review the mount, we can see that has been mounted on the

[Root @ localhost ~] # df -h

/ Dev / sdd2 196G 65G 132G 33% / mnt / ntfs-p1

13. If you uninstall, then we can use the command "umount"

[Root @ localhost ~] # umount / dev / sdd2

See now we just do not have the mounted partition.

[Root @ localhost ~] # df -h

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on

/ Dev / sda2 9.7G 4.6G 4.6G 51% /

tmpfs 495M 224K 495M 1% / dev / shm

/ Dev / sda1 194M 30M 155M 16% / boot

14. If we want to mount the boot, then the system boot loader NTFS partition, edit / etc / fstab, add the line below.

[Root @ localhost ~] # vim / etc / fstab

Mount the partition mount point file type Default Default

/ Dev / sdd2 / mnt / ntfs-pl ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

Then we can restart the system to be verified.

Conclusion:

This paper briefly describes the installation and configuration steps to access ntfs partitions under Linux system NTFS-3G, I hope to give beginners a little help.
